A Little Inspiration From the 50’s

Hello Beauties!

I was so inspired by this skirt; it belonged to my mother who found it at a garage sale. The pattern is gorgeous and detailed while the structure is incredibly simple. It’s a thicker material, but doesn’t have a lot of layering, so even though it can be a little cumbersome at times (aka sitting) it doesn’t get too overheated.

With a history dating back to the late 1800s and the beautiful ceiling designs of Grand Central Station that make you feel like you have been transported back in time, why not sport a vintage skirt and pearl earrings just like the many travelers passing through before me. It felt surreal in a way, which is funny how an outfit can bring on such emotions. Sadly I was also getting over a stomach flu at the time so the feeling didn’t last very long…

I’d pair this piece with a loose blouse, preferably lighter in color. You can even add a light pattern to it, just make sure it goes with the colors and theme of the skirt! Light jewelry and small earrings add to the modesty of the style, while also bringing about a sophistication to the wearer. Who doesn’t want to feel like Audrey Hepburn for the day?

Here’s What Every Beach Babe Needs

Hello Beauties!

As I sit here curled up on a breezy balcony, headphones in and a convenient tub of ice cream only inches away, there is a beautiful ocean just a couple of blocks away. Are you guys going to be hitting up the beach anytime soon? If so, make sure you’ve got a couple of these products on hand!

BEACH NEEDS

1. You gotta have a good bathing suit. Period. Beach, pool, lake, back yard tanning sessions; whatever you do Aerie has got yo’ back with their beautifully colorful, comfortable, and affordable suits. I got these bottoms for a DOLLAR.

2. I gotta put a good sunscreen in the mix because it’s just plain important. No one wants to be a) a lobster, b) a burnt marshmallow, or c) getting skin cancer. Seriously though it is always a good idea to have a strong sunscreen on hand. My favorite is Banana Boat‘s CoolZone spray— it’s cooling when it applies for those really hot days!

3. Even though you probably won’t be showering in the ocean, a good moisturizing shampoo is a must, especially with all that salt or smelly lake water! I’ve become obsessed with OGX‘s Nourishing Coconut Milk shampoo. There’s no need for a conditioner and it smells great!

4. A good book is the smartest and most beneficial way to spend your down time. The more time you spend regularly reading the greater your self-esteem and self-acceptance. #TheMoreYouKnow

5. If, for some reason, your face gets a little burned or dry (that’s what sunscreen is for) a good moisturizer like Neutrogena’s Water Gel Moisturizer is unbelievably good! It isn’t creamy or thick– instead it sinks in and cools immediately.

6. Make sure to keep your face clean and bright with these Love & Beauty Cucumber Lemon wipes. They are a bit drying, but that means bye, bye shine and sweat!

7. And if you want a little bit of coverage, go for Rimmel London’s Radiance BB Cream. It works miracles, and lasts too!

Hello Beauties!

Long time no blog am I right? Things have been crazy over here, what with traveling, packing, and not having WIFI for about a week.
I’ve settled in Long Island for my internship, and there will still be posts every Monday and Friday since those are my off days. Plus there will be a lot of photos of New York City. Like a TON of them. But let’s get on with the fashion, shall we?

I’ve recently rediscovered my love for T-shirt dresses and turquoise jewelry, which has been mostly brought on by all of the music festival mayhem.

I purchased this simple dress at Target, my one true love. The fabric is perfect for summer, and the stripes balance out the shapeless silhouette. It’s also extremely versatile and can be worn for practically any occasion with the right accessories.

For this look I wanted to be simple but well accessorized. This hat from Forever21 really made the outfit unique, while the pendant necklace added an unexpected pop of color and the shoes simply made it more feminine.

Stay tuned for more Fashion Fridays and tell me below what your go-to summer piece is!

Hello Beauties!

We all know that bohemian style is in right now, especially with music festivals like Coachella becoming more and more mainstream. I personally am so happy about it because that is the kind of clothing I’ve always loved: big turquoise pendants, oversized sunglasses, and super free clothing. That’s what you learn when you’re raised by rock n’ roll/hippie parents.

For the past couple of years one side of me has been pleased with the tight fit-and-flare dresses, small 60’s heels, and Parisian scarves. Now I’m loving the opportunity to wear dresses without a bra and bust out my mom’s old Birkenstocks.

I paired this dress with a leather backpack, which I haven’t put down all summer, and some comfortable leather sandals. I also made sure to pack some good sunglasses, and I kept all jewelry very simple and tasteful as to not distract from the dress.

Everyday Makeup Look |Summer Edition

Hello Beauties!

I’m loving this summer makeup look; it’s super simple and perfect for those hot summer days! I have a video below of the whole process that you can watch, but until then here is a list of products I used! Enjoy!

Nivea Lip Balm: This is a must have for every person! I apply it every morning and night for healthy lips!

Rimmel BB Cream: I love to use this cream during the summer when I don’t need a whole lot of coverage, but I still want a little something-something to brighten up my face.

Almay Clear Complexion Foundation: I generally use this as a concealer for any problem areas I’m having that day, but I make sure not to over do it since it has a slightly heavier coverage.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer (Waterproof): I never used bronzer before, but this summer I’m loving it! I also like that it’s waterproof, so there’s no need to worry about your glow fading throughout the day.

Maybelline FITME powder in 130: I’m all for a controlled natural look, so I’m a huge fan of this super light-weight setting powder. I just apply this in my T-zone to take away some of the shine.

Almay Shade Softies in Creme Brûlée: I just swiped this on my lids for something soft and simple.

Clinique Eyeshadow in Blushed: Contrary to the name, this blue eyeshadow is perfect to use as an eyeliner to brighten my face and add a little bit of color to this natural look!

E.L.F Lip Balm & Tint: It applies super easily and doesn’t fade! I added a little bit of lipgloss over it for an extra shine.

Pixi Moisturizing Setting Spray: It’s little bit more on the pricey side for a setting spray but this stuff is AMAZING! It really keeps your makeup in place all day.
