Enchanting And Easy: Audrey Hepburn OOTD

Hello Beauties!

As you might have noticed, Tuesdays and Fridays seem to match up, and this week the big topic is Audrey Hepburn. She was beautiful, talented, and lionhearted. This is how we worship her. Through makeup and clothes. Let’s get to it.

I wanted something relaxed because this week has been pretty calm for once. Audrey’s signature look was always black slacks, quarter-sleeved shirts (black or stripped), and ballet flats. Everything else was very simple, as you saw in Tuesday’s Makeup Look.

I immediately paired my H&M harem pants with the closest shirt I could find to something she would wear. I came up with my Forever21 stripped shirt, and then just went without shoes because this was more an “around the house” look. Also, think about just wearing shoes consistently. That irks me.

Just to add a little flash of color and sparkle, I went for my little heart necklace. If you’re going to wear any jewelry keep it really, really, simple. But I don’t normally get decked out for my couch. Maybe it’s just me.

IT’S AUTUMN OOTD!

Hello Beauties!

FALL IS HERE! As you can tell, I love Fall. I love the colors and the weather and the sweaters and hot chocolate. I’m a huge fan of Fall. Fall is life. Fall is everything. Autumn is a great word too. Pre-Winter is kinda ominous. Anyways here is my short, and constructive, OOTD for this week!

For this outfit I wore my H&M knit tights under my favorite PacSun high-waisted shorts. This Autumn will have tons of knee-high socks with dresses and shorts with leggings, which are two things I’m very excited to incorporate into my wardrobe. I grabbed this little bunny-rabbit shirt at the thrift store (it says it’s from H&M) and I finished it off with this mustard sweater from Target as a statement piece. My advice for shoes is to keep ’em simple. I paired my favorite brown heels with this outfit! Quick sidetrack: Lately I’ve been having knee issues so I’m wearing a lot of supportive shoes but when it comes to heels, if you get nice sturdy ones, they won’t really bug me. I guess I felt you should know that. No clue why, it happened. Let’s move on.

Flashy Florals and High Hopes: Fashion Friday

Hello Beauties!

First, let’s talk about how TERRIBLE wifi can be. I’ve been dying to be able to post something, anything, but I can’t because of the stupid internet not going connecting. I’m hoping this will be resolved sooner rather than later. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy this post and how about you tell me what your favorite flower is in the comments! Mine is a rose.

I got this apparently $80 dress at a thrift store for $13 and I’ve immediately fallen in love with the pattern. It’s a fit n’ flare dress with small cutouts on the sides that are held together with little straps of the fabric. It’s made of a slightly thicker material, which was super overwhelming on really hot days. I think it would be worn best (and without as much sweat) in the fall with tights and a pair of cute booties. I also paired it with this geometric necklace to add a bit of contrast to the flowers, and these army green heels to accentuate the green throughout the pattern.

How to Ace a Job Interview

Hello Beauties!

Sorry that things have been a little quiet on Qwerty Girl, my WIFI has been switched out and there have been a couple of glitches. Also, college essays are “happening”. Excuses, excuses.

Today I ROCKED this interview for a senior internship and I was so inspired to write this post showing you my makeup, outfit, and anything else I needed to feel completely prepared and ready to kick booty. Let’s get started.

Interview

Whenever you are doing anything job related, ya gotta look professional. So I opted for my Forever21 army green dress and matching heels. I also paired my chunky chain necklace with it because I’ll be interning at an artsy place with artsy people. This necklace is artsy.

I wanted to keep my makeup simple– I’m not pretending to be twenty-four; what you see is what you get. I used my NYX Shimmer Stick as an eyeshadow, then added my NYX Eyeliner in brown and my favorite Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. The only base I used is the Revlon Photo Ready BB Cream. It applies like a dream and doesn’t look heavy. To finish it off I used my favorite Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in 05.

Now that you look like a true member of the workforce, you gotta be prepared. It’s so, so, so smart to carry a notebook with you. It makes you seem organized, competent, and eager to start your work ASAP. Plus, you never know when you might need to catch a name, number, email, company name, etc. Also have your planner for basically everything. Let’s face it, a busy person like you can’t afford to forget anything.

And that’s all you need! Now go show your true colors, and if the job is the right one they will love you! Keep checking in for a slightly more organized and regular schedule here. Until then…

A Little Inspiration From the 50’s

Hello Beauties!

DSC_0116 DSC_0160

I was so inspired by this skirt; it belonged to my mother who found it at a garage sale. The pattern is gorgeous and detailed while the structure is incredibly simple. It’s a thicker material, but doesn’t have a lot of layering, so even though it can be a little cumbersome at times (aka sitting) it doesn’t get too overheated.

With a history dating back to the late 1800s and the beautiful ceiling designs of Grand Central Station that make you feel like you have been transported back in time, why not sport a vintage skirt and pearl earrings just like the many travelers passing through before me. It felt surreal in a way, which is funny how an outfit can bring on such emotions. Sadly I was also getting over a stomach flu at the time so the feeling didn’t last very long…

I’d pair this piece with a loose blouse, preferably lighter in color. You can even add a light pattern to it, just make sure it goes with the colors and theme of the skirt! Light jewelry and small earrings add to the modesty of the style, while also bringing about a sophistication to the wearer. Who doesn’t want to feel like Audrey Hepburn for the day?
