Wrapping Up January

Hello Beauties!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? There have been finals, internship work, and whatever else that has been keeping me busy. But why don’t we talk about this month’s favorites according to yours truly!

I haven’t been having a lot of skin issues lately– just some redness here and there. regardless, Almay’s Smart Shade CC Cream has been the perfect remedy. It takes away redness and other discoloration without feeling greasy or thick. I like to use a damp Beauty Blender to work it in and get that smooth look that we all strive for!

Since I’ve been having some problems with redness and slight acnes, I’ve become a serious fan of Neutrogena’s Redness Soothing Acne Wash. It’s gentle, but effective, and the more I use it the better my skin looks. I also included Earth Therapeutics Smooth Face Brush because this is one of the best and least expensive cleansing brushes I’ve seen on the market!

Moisturizer

My mom grabbed this for her sister so I decided to give it a try. Since then it’s been featured in Allure and other beauty sites and rightly so; all you have to do is apply it to wet skin (it’s slightly greasy at first), then gently pat dry and voila! Instant smooth and radiant skin with ease!

Book Of The Month

I loved this book so, so, so much. I knew right from the beginning that it was going to get me, and it most certainly did. It follows the lives and perspectives of multiple immigrants from South America to the United States. Some are legal, some are not, but each has a riveting tale of how they got to where they are now. It’s brilliantly written, and will definitely give a different perspective on immigration.

Outfit of The Month

The pants are from American Eagle and are one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve ever owned! The shirt is from Target; it’s super lightweight and loose, with a dipped back and matching shorts. I also added this wishbone necklace as a simple yet key accent, without deterring from the pattern.

A Little Inspiration From the 50’s

Hello Beauties!

I was so inspired by this skirt; it belonged to my mother who found it at a garage sale. The pattern is gorgeous and detailed while the structure is incredibly simple. It’s a thicker material, but doesn’t have a lot of layering, so even though it can be a little cumbersome at times (aka sitting) it doesn’t get too overheated.

With a history dating back to the late 1800s and the beautiful ceiling designs of Grand Central Station that make you feel like you have been transported back in time, why not sport a vintage skirt and pearl earrings just like the many travelers passing through before me. It felt surreal in a way, which is funny how an outfit can bring on such emotions. Sadly I was also getting over a stomach flu at the time so the feeling didn’t last very long…

I’d pair this piece with a loose blouse, preferably lighter in color. You can even add a light pattern to it, just make sure it goes with the colors and theme of the skirt! Light jewelry and small earrings add to the modesty of the style, while also bringing about a sophistication to the wearer. Who doesn’t want to feel like Audrey Hepburn for the day?

Hello Beauties!

Long time no blog am I right? Things have been crazy over here, what with traveling, packing, and not having WIFI for about a week.
I’ve settled in Long Island for my internship, and there will still be posts every Monday and Friday since those are my off days. Plus there will be a lot of photos of New York City. Like a TON of them. But let’s get on with the fashion, shall we?

I’ve recently rediscovered my love for T-shirt dresses and turquoise jewelry, which has been mostly brought on by all of the music festival mayhem.

I purchased this simple dress at Target, my one true love. The fabric is perfect for summer, and the stripes balance out the shapeless silhouette. It’s also extremely versatile and can be worn for practically any occasion with the right accessories.

For this look I wanted to be simple but well accessorized. This hat from Forever21 really made the outfit unique, while the pendant necklace added an unexpected pop of color and the shoes simply made it more feminine.

Stay tuned for more Fashion Fridays and tell me below what your go-to summer piece is!

Hello Beauties!

We all know that bohemian style is in right now, especially with music festivals like Coachella becoming more and more mainstream. I personally am so happy about it because that is the kind of clothing I’ve always loved: big turquoise pendants, oversized sunglasses, and super free clothing. That’s what you learn when you’re raised by rock n’ roll/hippie parents.

For the past couple of years one side of me has been pleased with the tight fit-and-flare dresses, small 60’s heels, and Parisian scarves. Now I’m loving the opportunity to wear dresses without a bra and bust out my mom’s old Birkenstocks.

I paired this dress with a leather backpack, which I haven’t put down all summer, and some comfortable leather sandals. I also made sure to pack some good sunglasses, and I kept all jewelry very simple and tasteful as to not distract from the dress.

Summertime Means Rompertime

Hello Beauties!

It’s here! Stores are advertising their best, and shortest, dresses, skirts, and ROMPERS! That’s right ladies and gentlemen, we have made it through the deadly winter and we have been given the ultimate reward: sun, pool days, and no pants. What could be better??

I actually grabbed this beauty off a cluttered rack in Plato’s Closet for about $12. When I realized that it was made by H&M, the deal was sweetened.

The back dips with a couple of criss-crossy things, making it a little bit more interesting. Plus, it has freaking pockets. People… it has POCKETS. Anyone stuck with  carrying money, tampons, keys, and a cell phone will understand my excitement about pockets.

Back to the back (haha joke), I’d advise wearing a bralette, much like the one I bought at Aerie! I don’t think I can go on enough about how much I adore this brand, so I will leave you to test them yourselves. Buy one of their bras. Maybe even a bralette. Get their underwear for goodness sakes! You will not be disappointed.

For accessories I could not resist to grab my favorite (and only; they’re expensive) TOPSHOP necklace. Wearing anything black is the perfect excuse to bust out a bright-coral, chain neck-piece. To go with the necklace, I chose my new Ulta matte lipstick in the shade 250, which is a bright pinky-coral, and then to add a little shimmer I dabbed my favorite Tarte lipgloss in the color flush on my bottom lip.

And for the grand finale, these knit Converse high-tops. Yes, they are knit. Yes, I adore them. I call them my “sweaters for feet”. I’m thinking about doing a week of just my favorite/slightly crazy shoes, because I have a few. These just added a very classic summer vibe to the whole outfit, but they are unique enough to safely bet that no one else would have them. Plus, white shoes make your legs look tan, so I enjoy those benefits!
