A Guide To Beautiful Waves Overnight

Hello Beauties!

Waves

I’ve got very curly and frizzy hair that is layered and medium length, so finding an easy way to get gorgeous waves overnight has been difficult. The majority of articles are made for one hair type; long and straight.

So after a lot of long nights searching Pinterest and many trial and errors, I’ve come up with a couple that work very well with my hair. I’ve also included some links for you longer haired folks, but this one is mostly for the short haired ladies! I hope you enjoy!

I personally find that side rope braids work best for layers, but I’ve recently been experimenting with headband curls and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it!

My NYC Haul

Hello Beauties!

This is going to be a quick post since I’m writing it this exact morning and I have an appointment at 9, but aside from that it is going to be a peaceful morning! Also, I left out the beauty stuff I bought because there was kinda a lot and most of it is in my July Favorites post.

I’ve been dying to get one of Free People’s Sunset Park shirts. It’s soft, light weight, and very warm all at the same time! It was the perfect thing to wear on the beach when it was a little colder. (PS The color is a lot prettier in person!)

When I walked into the Tommy Hilfiger store on 5th Avenue, I knew I needed to leave with something. And since I set out to get a nice perfume while in the City, I chose this one. It’s sweet and subtle, but with a little bit of a kick to it. And it’s not too flashy.

I was reading a lot while at the beach or in Central Park, so I stocked up on a lot of books. The first book I read was Stealing Mona Lisa, which is a favorite of mine. The next is one I’m currently getting through (it’s a bit of a struggle), and that is The Beautiful American by Jeanne Mackin. Finally the one I will read is 1984 by George Orwell, and let me tell you with a literature major for a father I’m dying to start it.

For the past three years I’ve had cute planners– one with a typewriter on it, one that had quotes and photos about Paris, and now this baby. It’s got stickers, inspirational quotes, and cute saying like “You’re just beautiful” on random days! I also grabbed this Central Park themed notebook for all of my blogging notes and sketches.

This is yet another bad picture of my favorite shirt at the moment (also Free People). It’s lightweight and surprisingly flattering to the body, and it has a beautiful pattern!

These are two separate pieces that I found at Uniqlo. The tank top is made by an eco-friendly artist that the store was featuring amongst other artists. I really like the denim shirt because it wasn’t like any I’ve seen, and almost bought, before. It’s light and easy to wear and style. It’s very Uniqlo, and that’s why I like it so much.

My July Favorites

Hello Beauties!

I haven’t done one of these in a while, have I? Well, I had a lot of favorites this month and it only seems natural to share them with all of you! Also, tell me what your favorite was this month!

MAC July Favs

What the what is this concealer and how have I never used it before?! I love, love, love it for natural coverage under tired eyes and whatever spots decide to pop up that day. And no worries — once this concealer is on it isn’t coming off. All day. Plus it smells AMAZING! I don’t get it but I don’t question it either.

NYX July Favs

Once again NYX has outdone themselves with these affordable and very pigmented lip colors. They apply like a lip gloss and then matte in beautiful shades of pinks, reds, and nudes. Even though the color doesn’t last super long, I’ll definitely be grabbing more of these.

Stila July Favs

I picked this up years ago, way before I ever knew what to do with it! Now I’m so happy with the results. A beautiful highlight and contour duo for someone who is going for a more natural look this summer. If only middle school Marin could have appreciated you more!

ULTA July Favs

I’ve been meaning to pick up these beautiful gel liner pens from Ulta, and I’m so happy that I finally got around to it! I’m not a huge black eyeliner fanatic, mostly because I can’t seem to get the same line twice. But these easily bendable and lighter shades have been perfect for whatever look I’m going for. Because no one has time for a messy cat eye, am I right?

July Favs Shea

I love this incredibly natural scent that lasts for hours with the Body Shop’s Shea Mist and Lotion. I wear them everyday, and they are not overpowering at all, which is what I prefer most of the time.

Book July Favs

I’ve only re-read two books in my life; The Run Away Pony in third grade and now this. Even though it isn’t the most amazing book you’ll ever read, something about the historical events tied in with a fictional romance and the adventures between friends, all while in the heart of Paris, gets me every time.

A More Perfect Place

Hello Beauties!

As you know I’m in Long Island/New York City for the next couple of weeks. Thus far I’ve seen a lot of beautiful clouds, the ocean, some attractive surfers, and a cute boy next door. No judgements.

I wanted to quickly post some photos that I’ve taken since getting here! Some are of Ellis Island, the beach, and of course Central Park. I couldn’t imagine a better place to be for the rest of July, and I can only hope these photos do some justice to the beauty of all of it.

There is a really cool Fashion Friday post coming up so stay tuned! Until next time…

Missing D.C.

This is blurry but it is the only one of me riding the carousel that I rode as a baby like every single day! Memories, am I right?

This used to be the hospital I was born in so YAY I’m such an American!

Hello Beauties!

I’ve been missing Washington D.C. so much lately, mostly because I’m going to be back there in a couple of weeks *YAY*. I’m pumped. Maybe you could tell, but you’re reading this so maybe you couldn’t. WHO KNOWS!?

*Side Note: Writing in all caps really grabs the reader’s attention.*

Anyways, I was feeling nostalgic (as per normal) so naturally I went through my old photos to find these beauties! They are beautiful because they aren’t blurry! *YAY* Thanks iPhone.

So I’m going to end this now, but keep reading every week for beauty, fashion, and random posts! Until next time…

Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks,
